Language of Liberty: A Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Experience the power of the nation’s founding words in a historic setting.

Community members will recite the Declaration with context given by historians.

Living historians will be on hand to discuss local life in the 1770s.

Visitors may then tour the Old Cahokia Courthouse SHS (built c. 1740), a place which witnessed important events in 1776 and beyond.
